Submissions: Where to from here?
The Māori Affairs Select Committee have completed oral submissions. We have heard from tamariki, whānau, rangatira, tohunga and iwi and all have effectively conveyed the message that the collective is seeking the elimination of tobacco from our shores. There are no benefits to maintaining tobacco sales to the next generation.
A draft report has been completed and the Committee is beginning its internal debate/discussions. This report will eventually be placed before Parliament. There is a 90 day period for Parliament to respond to this report.
